Meet Chicago Northwest welcomes the Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival to new location, Busse Woods
Brings hundreds of visitors to the area for dragon boat racing and festival fun on July 28, 2018
Elk Grove Village, IL (July 19, 2018) – The Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival comes to Busse Woods for another year of racing, sport, and community. For six years, the Chicago Northwest area has hosted the event that’s been recognized as the Best Single-Sport Event by the SportsTravel Awards. The festival will feature forty dragon boat teams from the Midwest, Florida and Canada. Everyone in the community is welcome to cheer on the dragon boats and discover the magic of 22 hearts beating as one.
The weekend’s festivities are an opportunity to immerse the community in the culture and spirit of dragon boat racing, which dates back 2,500 years to ancient China. Beyond the water competition, festivalgoers can enjoy vendors offering a wide-range of products and services, the Asian Cultural Village with multicultural performances, musical acts, workshops, and demonstrations throughout the day. Mobile food vendors will be on site to round off a day by the water with a tasty treat.
The Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival benefits a local charity, Adaptive Adventures. Funds raised through the event will help provide progressive outdoor sport opportunities to improve quality of life for children, adults, and wounded veterans with physical disabilities.
