October 28, 2015 – Schaumburg, IL The Schaumburg Dance Ensemble’s 21st annual production of “The Nutcracker” continues to delight audiences of all ages. New this year, the narration will be provided by a grown-up Clara, a central figure of The Nutcracker. The ballet opens with Clara reflecting on her childhood and recounting her adventures one Christmas Eve when her magical godfather, Drosselmeyer (now a dancing role in the production), gives her a Nutcracker that comes to life and leads her on a remarkable journey. Along the way she encounters leaping Russians, waltzing flowers, twirling snowflake maidens and more. A company of professional dancers lead a large cast in Tchaikovsky’s magical ballet. Complete with grand sets and vibrant costumes, this Nutcracker is not to be missed.
Performances of the Schaumburg Dance Ensemble’s “The Nutcracker” run from December 4 – 13 with matinee and evening performances scheduled (see www.prairiecenter.org for specific dates and times).
