SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (April 19, 2017) – Woodfield Mall today announced its Spring 2017 More Than Pink movement in support of Susan G. Komen and the fight against breast cancer. As part of its pledge to donate $1 million each year in 2017 and 2018, more than 180 participating Simon Malls, The Mills and Premium Outlets nationwide will be participating in a range of activities during the months of April and May.
“It has been wonderful to see the positive response that the More Than Pink movement has generated over the past year,” said Heather Lloyd, Director of Marketing and Business Development for Woodfield Mall. “Our shoppers, retailers and employees have embraced the opportunities we’ve offered to support Susan G. Komen in its tireless efforts to reduce breast cancer deaths, and we look forward to continuing that momentum this year.”
Visitors to Woodfield Mall will notice the pink theme carried out with pink lighting and flowers throughout the mall’s Grand Court and Guest Services booth, where staff will be donning pink accessories. Other planned activities include:
Discount Card Program: In exchange for a $10 donation to Susan G. Komen, shoppers will receive a Discount Card, available at Guest Services, providing 15 or 25 percent off one item at close to 60 participating retailers, including Arhaus, Banana Republic, bareMinerals, bebe, C.D. Peacock, Coach, The Disney Store, Kinfork BBQ & Tap, Lord & Taylor, Puma, Timberland, Tommy Bahama and Vera Bradley. All Discount Card donations go to Susan G. Komen.
Local Programming: ‘Race For The Cure’ events and other activations will take place with local Simon teams working with Susan G. Komen affiliates. Simon encourages shoppers to locate and register for an event near them by visiting Woodfield Mall from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, for a special in-person registration event or by visiting www.raceforthecure.org/Simon.
More Than Pink Hero Wall: An opportunity for survivors and their families to visually celebrate and honor the hero who inspires and uplifts them through their fight with breast cancer. For a $1 donation, shoppers will receive a pink sticker on which they can write the name of the ‘More Than Pink’ Hero and place it on the wall. Donors will also have the chance to play the Plinko Game and win a variety of More Than Pink promotional items, including lapel pins, mini water bottles and pens. All proceeds go to Susan G. Komen.
Hero Photo Opportunity: An ‘I Am More Than Pink’ backdrop will be used as a photo selfie station through the end of May. All will be encouraged to use the hashtag #morethanpink.
As of April 2017, Simon has raised $441,667 in support of Susan G. Komen, all generated through the support and participation of shoppers, retailers and employees.
From Oct. 1, 2016, to Sep. 30, 2018, Simon had guaranteed a contribution of at least $1 million for each year of the program in connection with its various fundraising initiatives, including its discount card program, promotion of Komen’s Race for the Cure®, and promotion of Komen’s Do-It-Yourself fundraising platform.
